Malaysian cuisine is very rich as it is a fusion of many cultures. Nasi Lemak(Coconut milk rice) is one of the national dishes of Malaysia.

This dish can be called Coconut Milk Rice or Banana Leaf Rice because the rice is cooked in coconut milk and served on banana leaf with spicy-sweet sambal sauce, dried fish, cucumber, fried peanuts and boiled egg. The richness of the coconut milk combined with the spiciness of the sambal sauce, the saltiness of the dried fish and the aroma of the peanuts creates a unique flavour that is unforgettable.

An upgraded version of the coconut milk rice can also be served with fried chicken, soy sauce, prawns and other favourite toppings, making a late-night snack a bit of a sin really, but a fitting tribute to one's five dirty temples.
