Since its opening in 2014, the Dongdaemun Design Plaza has quickly become a landmark and icon of Seoul, a recently emerged international fashion hub. 

On 27 July 1953, the United Nations Command, the Korean People's Army, and the Chinese People's Volunteer Army signed the Korean Armistice Agreement. They agreed to cease the Korean War and to establish a demilitarised zone separating the two Koreas. According to the agreement, however, the war was only ceased, but not ended. Therefore, the two Koreas are technically still at war. Also, the Military Demarcation Line between them had long been the frontline of the Cold War.

Bungeo ppang, a favorite winter snack, gets its name from its fish-like shape. This sweet snack is molded in the shape of a carp, called bungeo in Korean. The pancake batter-like shell is filled with red-bean paste, cream or cheese and then baked.

Kimchi, a fermented vegetable dish, is a traditional dish that accompanies every meal served in Korea. There are many variations in recipes and forms, using different vegetables such as cabbage, radish, and cucumber. The health benefits of kimchi have been scientifically proven, increasing the global interest in this Korean food.
