In Arabic, Rub' al Khali means “the Empty Quarter”. The Rub' al Khali desert is the world’s largest continuous sand desert, covering an area of 650,000km2. The desert takes up a quarter of the Arabian Peninsula. The highest sand dune in the desert stands 300m tall. People seldom visit the Rub' al Khali desert - even the Bedouins, who used to inhabit the desert regions. They call the Rub' al Khali desert “the Sands”.

The most renowned scenic spot in Huizhou has to be Mount Luofu, one of the ten Sacred Mountains of Taoism. The temples on Mount Luofu have a thousand years of history. The widely known Chongxu Ancient Temple was once the station of the East River Column. Given its wonderful landscape, Mount Luofu is hailed as “the Best Mountain in Lingnan”, where celebrities like Su Dongpo and Dr Sun Yat-sen had once spent their vacation in and written poems for.

The Aral Sea was once the fourth largest lake in the world, encompassing Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. Unfortunately, as the Soviet Union government pushed through the river diversion projects in the 1960s, the Aral Sea suffered from a shortage of water, which was mostly irrigated to the deserts nearby. The lake has continued to shrink and is now divided into the northern and southern regions.

Band culture has always been an integral part of Hong Kong's pop culture. This year, renowned and award-winning producer Carl Wong is re-invited as the curator and music director, to curate two concerts at Ko Shan Theatre featuring bands from various decades, showcasing popular band hits.

Peru boasts an abundance of landscapes, the Colca Canyon is one of them. It may not be as magnificent as the Grand Canyon in the United States and the Charyn Canyon in Kazakhstan. Yet, the Colca Canyon is more lively and full of greenery.
