Present Erdene Zuu Monastery was built on the remains of the historical capital of Great Mongolian Empire, Kharkhorum city by moving the remaining stone walls on the outskirts of Kharkhorum.
Regarded as one of the peaceful cities in Asia – Ulaanbaatar may be the last surviving city from nomadic civilizations transforming into a modern city. The centre of this historic city has Chehel Sotoun erected. Chehel Sotoun is the former palace for Persian kings. After Shah Abbas the Great moved the capital city to Isfahan, Shah Abbas II built this majestic palace in this trading hub in the 17th century for handling national affairs and receptions of foreign officials.
