Sigulda Castle
Medieval Gothic-style structure attracts eyeballs with its highly ornamented characteristics. The style has even inspired different art forms, including music, paintings and fashion. The prominently fancy feature of Gothic architecture had constantly been recreated by architects who contributed to the emergence of the Neo-Gothic. The derived style is more elaborate. Sigulda Castle is a classic example of the Neo-Gothic building.
The tower of Sigulda Castle is indeed the greatest feature of the architecture. The brick walls in grey and top of the tower in light yellow resemble the castles in Scandinavian fairy tales. In the former brewery, an exquisite art gallery was installed to present the medieval history there. Next to it is the Summer Castle in yellow, built by craftsmen from the Cēsis Castle nearby, showing architectural styles in different periods.
