The 33rd Summer Olympic Games will be held in Paris, France from 26 July to 11 August 2024, marking the 100th year since France hosted the Summer Olympics. The Opening Ceremony will be held on the Seine River in Paris, and it is expected that 10,000 athletes will travel by boat through iconic Parisian sites such as the Louvre, Notre Dame and the Eiffel Tower, with a 6-kilometre route that will provide the world with an unprecedented visual feast!
The mascot of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Phryges the Phrygian, is inspired by the Phrygian cap, or "cap of liberty", an important symbol of the French Revolution.

Paris 2024 took advantage of the opportunity provided by the IOC in Olympic Agenda 2020 to make proposals for additional sports to strengthen its programme and overall concept. The IOC wants to set new standards for an inclusive, gender-balanced and youth-centred Olympic Games. paris 2024 submitted a proposal to the IOC to add four new sports that are closely linked to youth and reward creativity and athletic performance. The four sports are ice-breaking, rock climbing, skateboarding and surfing.
