[The Belt and Road Travel Guide] Top three Ningxia’s destinations: Tengri Desert, Sand Lake & Yinchuan

Ningxia's unique geographical location makes it the starting point of the Silk Road in ancient times and a key development area of the Belt and Road today. In Ningxia, you can enjoy various landscapes, including mountains, plains, deserts, forests and lakes. It offers a feeling of being immersed in nature. Together with Greater Go, let's explore Ningxia, the "Pearl of northern China".

Three major tourist attractions in Ningxia: 1. Yinchuan city

Yinchuan, the capital of Ningxia, was once the capital of the Western Xia dynasty. The development here has flourished and is known as the "Jiangnan beyond the Great Wall". The city has several vital cultural relics, such as the Western Xia Imperial Mausoleum, the Nanguan Grand Mosque, the Pagoda of Chengtian Temple, the Jade Emperor Pavilion and the Drum Tower. Besides enjoying the scenery of the Ningxia desert, take advantage of the unique charm of the famous Chinese historical and cultural city.

Three major tourist attractions in Ningxia 2. Tengri Desert

If you visit Ningxia, you must experience galloping in the desert and leaving your mark in the famous Tengri Desert in Zhongwei.

"Tengri" means "sky" in Mongolian. In this context, the desert is as boundless as the sky. The Tolling of Bells in Shapotou is one of China's three famous resonant sands. Shapotou scenic area lies 20 km west of Zhongwei in Ningxia, at the southeast edge of the Tengri Desert. The scenic area is a collection of deserts, rivers, mountains, and oases that provide visitors with unique landscapes. Not only can they enjoy the northwest desert landscape but also the natural scenery of Jiangnan.

Besides the beautiful desert scenery, you can also experience exciting activities like sand sliding, rafting across the Yellow River and camel riding, giving you a unique desert journey.

Three major tourist attractions in Ningxia 3. Sand Lake

Why is there a 10,000-acre lake in the middle of the desert? The Sand Lake oasis brings you to witness the marvel of nature! There are flocks of migratory birds and lush vegetation in the lake. The Helan Mountain stands next to the lake, forming a unique and beautiful landscape.

In addition to enjoying the natural scenery, you must try the speedboat ride to experience the thrill of entering the maze of reeds and flowers on the lake!

Although Ningxia is covered with loess, with the implementation of the environmental protection planting program, desertification has been significantly reduced. Yet, the unique landscape of Ningxia is preserved, allowing you to walk between the sand and oasis, feeling nature and the present.
