The Gunny Ethnic Village is situated in the picturesque Almaty Region, amidst the stunning landscapes of the Ile Alatau Mountains. Established in 2009, the village aims to foster patriotism and promote the rich culture of Kazakhstan.

In big cities, tourists rarely get the opportunity to experience traditional Kazakh customs and lifestyle. However, the Gunny ethnic village immerses visitors in the national spirit of Kazakhstan. You will witness not only traditional yurts (Kazakh national dwellings) but also a unique creation called «yurtages». These are a blend of yurts and cottages, equipped with heating, bathrooms, air conditioning, and other modern amenities.

The complex offers a glimpse into various Kazakh rituals, such as Besikke salu (when a baby is put in a cradle for the first time), Kyz kuu (a horse racing game that involves a man and a woman), and Atka otyrgyzu (a child's first horseback ride). These fascinating customs are often associated with horses, as these majestic animals played a vital role in the life of nomads. If you want to learn more about the significance of horses in Kazakhstan.

The Gunny Ethnic Village offers spectacular theatrical performances and a special show called Jigitovka. In this show, a jigit (a young man) exhibits his sports and artistic skills while riding a horse. The rider performs various acrobatic and gymnastic tricks, such as standing on the saddle or hanging from one side of the horse.

Besides horse riding, visitors can also enjoy combat with various weapons and archery. You can also participate in team-building activities inspired by national games with different programs. Furthermore, the riding school in the village offers lessons on the renowned jigitovka.

We have only mentioned a few of the services that the ethnic village offers. By visiting it, you will definitely discover something new and fascinating.
