"Oasis on the Tropic of Cancer" - Nankunshan National Forest Park

The Mount Luofu located in the South of Huizhou and the Nankun Mountain located in the North are two famous mountains of the city. Regarded as the "oasis on the Tropic of Cancer", Nankun Mountain is known for its mythical peaks and waterfalls. The Tiantang Top ("Tiantang" as paradise in Chinese), the major peak of the mountain, is taller than Hong Kong’s Tai Mo Shan. It stands over 1000m above sea level. Although it is tiring to climb Nankun Mountain, all efforts are just worth it when you see the wonderland-like scenery.

Returning from the “paradise”, the exquisite Qixian Lake ("Qixian" as seven fairies in Chinese) is right in front of your eyes. In the myths, the lake was so beautiful that the seven fairies who came down to the land didn’t want to leave. The dressing mirrors and dresses they left have now become the Shuzhuangjing Rock ("Shuzhuangjing " as a dressing mirror in Chinese ) and the Luoqun Rock ("Luoqun" as beautiful dresses in Chinese) respectively. Together with the Xiezhuang Pool ("Xiezhuang" as make-up removal in Chinese), a marvelous rock-river landscape is formed. Apart from hills, lakes and rivers, Nankun Mountain is home to many different species of plants and rare animals, such as serows, civets, pangolins, and red-billed leiothrix. Let's embrace all these treasures of nature in Guangdong!
