Must-visit destination in the Caribbean
With spectacular white sandy beaches, azure seas, beautiful landscapes and many things to do in the sun, Antigua and Barbuda is a must-visit destination in the Caribbean. 【GreaterGo】 finds three of the best things to do when visiting Antigua and Barbuda.
Swimming and snorkelling in the blue sea
Bordering the Caribbean Sea, Antigua's beaches consist of white and pink sand. Locals claim that there are 365 beaches to enjoy, with the most popular ones located on the north-west and east coasts of the island. The crescent-shaped bay, Half Moon Bay, offers excellent snorkelling on both ends while sizable waves in the centre are popular with surfers and windsurfers.
Visit the natural rock arch with numerous blowholes
Devil's Bridge National Park is where the Caribbean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean and is one of Antigua's most popular attractions. Here you can see natural limestone arches formed by thousands of years of wave erosion. This bridge is surrounded by several water jets that spray seawater into the air when the wind is strong.
Embark on a road trip along Antigua's southern coast
The Fig Tree Drive stretches for 8 kilometres along the southern coast of Antigua, passing through rainforest and farmland. Along the way you'll see coconut, banana and mango trees - it's a good idea to stop at a roadside stand for fresh fruit.
At the western end of the Boulevard of Fig Trees is Mount Obama, which rises 402 metres above sea level. You can hike to the top or take a canopy tour for panoramic views over Antigua.
