Medieval City of Kotor on the Coast of a Beautiful Channel

Once recognised as the best city to visit, Kotor is the most popular attraction in the Republic of Montenegro. Located in one of the most beautiful bays in the world, this ancient city sits deep in the bay and is protected by rugged, steep mountains. Ascending the high fortress, the view down to the medieval town with its brick-red roofs and the tranquil Adriatic Bay in front of you, where luxury cruises are moored in the azure blue sea, glistening in the sunlight, is dreamy and enchanting.

The medieval city has survived untouched by Montenegro's turbulent history. Various regimes have ruled the city and left their footprints here, and some of them have left behind different cultural and cultural relics, giving the old city both a Catholic and an Orthodox church.

Most visitors to Kotor usually take a day trip from Croatia or arrive by ferry for a few hours, but Kotor and its surrounding attractions are worth at least two days. The Old Town, in particular, is at its best before 9 a.m. and after 4 p.m., before the crowds of large cruise ships and tour buses arrive, so it's worth strolling through the quieter Old Town area to get a better feel for Kotor's charms.
