When it comes to wine, few people know that Georgia is the true birthplace of wine. It is said that the oldest traces of wine in the world were discovered in Marneuli, dating back 8,000 years! If you're travelling for the Georgian wine, you must visit renowned wine region cities like Kakheti and Imereti to witness the traditional winemaking technique using Qvevri clay vessels. This method preserves the natural flavour of the wines by burying the vessels underground. Just like Georgian wine, this traditional winemaking technique has stood the test of time and was recognised as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2013.

Georgian wine is known for rich fruity aromas and spicy flavours. If you're interested in Georgian wine, late April to May is the best time to visit the wine region of Kakheti, when the weather is particularly pleasant. Additionally, you can visit Imereti in September and participate in the local harvest festival, where you can savour Georgian wine while enjoying delicious local cuisine such as Mtsvadi (grilled meat skewers), Khinkali (Georgian Dumplings), and Kharcho (Beef Soup). Indulge in the delights of wine and cuisine!

When visiting Georgia, exploring ancient cities is a must-do activity! Located in the eastern part of the country, Mtskheta was once the ancient capital of Eastern Georgia. With its magnificent medieval religious architecture, Mtskheta is known as a Treasure of World Art and was inscribed on the World Heritage List in 1994. Whether strolling through the streets of the ancient city or admiring the breathtaking views from above, you can immerse yourself in the rich historical atmosphere and marvel at the artistic and cultural significance of the Georgian Empire displayed in the ancient city.
Jvari Monastery, a splendid and sacred church, is a prime example of Georgian religious architecture. It is said to have housed the robe of Jesus Christ, and a Lebanese cedar grew where the robe was kept. During the 4th century, when the monastery was built, seven pillars were made from the cedar tree, one of which miraculously rose into the sky and only returning to the ground after a saint prayed for it. Due to the healing properties of the myrrh (a resinous substance naturally secreted by the tree branches) that seeped from this pillar, the church was named the Jvari Monastery, which means life-giving pillar. Will this mysterious church attract your interest and draw you to visit?

To enjoy the charms of Mtskheta, the best time to visit Mtskheta-Mtianeti region is from May to September when the temperatures are warmer, allowing you to explore the ancient city comfortably!
