West Lake

West Lake in Hangzhou is one of China’s main freshwater lakes. The West Lake scenic area around the lake is surrounded by mountains on three sides and has been inscribed on the World Heritage List.
Around the lake are lush trees, green hills, picturesque bridges, and weeping willows. The park boasts over 100 unique attractions, including fragrant osmanthus flowers in the late autumn, blooming lotuses in the summer, smoky willows by the six bridges, pine trees shrouded in mist, old and new versions of the “Ten Views of West Lake,” and attractions built in recent years. These attractions form a colorful wreath around West Lake, making it charming in all seasons and any weather. The sight of Three Pools Mirroring the Moon, which appears on the back of the one-yuan banknotes, fully reflects the special position of West Lake among China’s scenic spots and places of interest.
